Italian Economic Mission in China - May 30th–June 4th

SEICA was one of the Italian Companies which took part in the economic mission in China from May 30th to June 4th. The event had cross-sector connotations and took place concurrently with the visit of the Italian Minister for Economic Development and with the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Confindustria (Italian Industrial Association), ABI (Association of Italian Banks) and the National Institute for Foreign Commerce. The delegation visited Chongqing, Shanghai and Beijing, alternating workshops with official meetings and social events.
Barbara Duvall (General Manager) and Antonio Grassino (CEO) represented SEICA at this event, which included approximately 230 Italian Companies, 9 bank groups, 18 industrial associations and 600 participants.
This has been the third large System Mission in China, following the first one in 2004 with the President of the Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and the second one in September 2006.
In addition to the Economic Meeting on June 1st in Chongqing and the Institutional Forum on June 4th in Beijing, the Mission also organized Thematic Seminars and 2000 bilateral meetings between Italian and Chinese companies.
Four Seminars held on Monday, May 31st at Chongqing were dedicated to automotive, energy, environmental protection, mechanics, manufacturing technologies and consumer goods, aiming to explore the opportunities of investments for the Italian Companies in China. SEICA, took part in two seminars: one regarding the automotive industry
, which Seica has been committed to for several years, researching and developing innovative, dedicated electronic test solutions. The other seminar presented information about opportunities in the mechanical and production technology sector.
At the same time, another Seminar, dedicated to the Chinese manufacturers, explained the business opportunities offered by our Country.
On Tuesday, June 1st the Economic Meeting “Italy meets Chongqing” was held, while on Wednesday June 2nd the Delegation moved to Shanghai where the manufacturers visited the booths of the World Expo. In the afternoon of June 3rd at Beijing, a workshop provided the Italian Companies with the reference regulatory framework to operate in China, explaining aspects of the battle against counterfeiting, information about customs and tariffs, the financing opportunities for Italian Companies in China and the issue of intellectual property. At the end of the Forum, important agreements were signed for government cooperation and economic partnership between Chinese-Italian institutions and companies.
On Friday, June 4th the Italy-China Economic Forum ended with the organization of bilateral business meetings between companies.
Certainly one of the highlights of the social and entertainment events was the concert directed by Ennio Morricone in Shanghai, on Wednesday, June 2nd, and the social event offered by the Italian ambassador in Beijing, with the participation of Emma Marcegaglia, President of Confindustria and John Elkann, CEO of FIAT.
